Information about the Pharmacy department

About the Pharmacy Department

There are two pharmacy departments and two outpatient dispensaries within the Queen Elizabeth and Selly Oak hospitals. They dispense items for patients admitted to the hospital and patients who attend outpatient clinics who require initiating their drug treatment immediately.

This service is delivered by an enthusiastic team of:

  • 42 whole time equivalent (WTE) pharmacists
  • 46 WTE pharmacy technicians
  • 33 WTE assistants and support staff

We also have five pre-registration pharmacy graduates and nine student technicians in training.

Pharmacy has close links with all clinical services. Each area of clinical care has a lead pharmacist, and dedicated clinical pharmacists work closely with each specialty.

The pharmaceutical service to the trust is currently managed by the Director of Pharmacy, Ann Slee.
