Assisting Communities To Identify Vocational Areas of Training and        Employment (ACTIVATE)

ACTIVATE course qualification

The OCR Career Planning Level 2 qualification aims to provide students with understanding and practical skills which will prepare them for the world of work – from preparation for work experience through to longer-term career planning.

During the Assisting Communities to Identify Vocational Areas of Training and Employment (ACTIVATE) programme, all students will complete unit four of the qualification entitled "present personal information effectively". In order to complete this unit, students will analyse specific job opportunities and develop strategies for presenting personal information effectively for specific contexts. In order to complete this unit, students will undertake the following activities:

  • Obtain relevant information about two different job roles (i.e. to look at vacancy bulletins to identify vacancies to apply for)
  • Obtain additional information for two different job roles (i.e. call an employer to gain additional information)
  • Prepare an application form
  • Prepare a CV
  • Prepare a covering letter
  • Prepare for an interview
  • Take part in a mock interview
  • Reflect on the interview
