Community health services
The Community Health team are based at the UHB Warehouse, Melchett Road, Kings Norton.
The team includes six members of staff who are responsible for providing pharmacy services to four Birmingham Primary Care Trusts, GU Medicine Clinic, Birmingham Dental Hospital, Oak Tree Lane Rehabilitation Centre and the Trust's Occupational Health department.
The health team work with the following areas:
- family planning
- district nurses
- school nurses
- children's services (including special school nurses)
- podiatry
- personal dental services
- optometry
- walk-in centres
- immunisation/vaccination
- intermediate care
The teams work is varied and includes not only the supply of pharmaceuticals but also the provision of pharmaceutical advice, policy/procedure development, training, patient group direction development, audit visits and answering clinical enquiries.
The service involves working with PCT's, social services and education staff to ensure the safe and effective use of medicines in the community.
