Governors
Each NHS foundation trust must have a Council of Governors. Governors represent the interests of the members - patients, public and staff - in monitoring how the Trust is managed.
University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust's (UHB) Council of Governors is split into four areas. These groups represent the public, patients, staff and business community.
- Public governors
- Patient governors
- Staff governors
- Stakeholder governors
Public governors are drawn from 10 constituencies, with each formed from either one or two parliamentary constituencies in Birmingham. Each has either one or two governors in broad proportion to the use of our hospitals by residents in those areas. Public governors can be patients or non-patients, but they do need to live in the constituency area.
