Greet Community Health Centre

Sparkbrook Community Cardiology Service

UHB provides a one-stop cardiology service clinic at Greet Community Health Centre.

Patients can be referred to the cardiology clinic via a service proforma issued to all GPs in the Sparkbrook area. All new patients will be offered an appointment within four weeks of receipt of referral (two weeks for urgent referrals and direct access echocardiography).

The multi-disciplinary approach to service has the advantage of results being discussed with the clinician on the day of diagnostics allowing a personalised treatment plan to be developed for each patient. This should eliminate the need for follow up clinics.

Conditions suitable for one-stop clinic referral include:

  • cardiovascular assessment
  • general cardiology
  • arrhythmia
  • suspected valvular heart disease
  • uncontrolled hypertension
  • heart failure
  • chest clinic

Diagnostics performed at the clinic include:

  • electrocardiography
  • echocardiography
  • exercise tolerance testing
  • 24 hour holter monitoring
  • 24 hour blood pressure monitoring
