HIV
The University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust HIV Department at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham offers non-judgmental, comprehensive outpatient care and services for individuals living with HIV.
Maintaining your health is our main aim and our staff are trained to provide the highest standards of care. We aim to make your visits a pleasant experience.
Individuals who attend are seen by specialist HIV consultants and the experienced HIV Team, consisting of pharmacists, social workers, health advisors, dieticians, mental health counsellors, psychologists, psychiatrists, research nurses and a dedicated HIV nursing team.
Individuals with other medical conditions may be reviewed in one of the joint clinics, where the HIV team work alongside a specialist doctor from another field. These clinics include:
- Monthly lipid clinic
- Mental health clinic
- Monthly contraception clinic
- Tri-monthly liver clinic
- Weekly counselling services
- Monthly dermatology clinic
- Weekly smoking cessation clinic
- Weekly adherence clinic
- Sexually transmitted infection (STI) screening in every clinic
