Referral process

Registration with the Learning Hub is simple and must be completed before clients can join any of our programmes.

There are many ways that clients can be referred to the Learning Hub, these include:

  • Jobcentre Plus
  • Attendance at a jobs fair or careers day
  • Word of mouth
  • Community engagement events
  • Through NHS staff

Stage 1

Clients are invited to attend an information session that usually takes place within the Learning Hub, but may be held at other venues as required.

During the information session a member of the Learning Hub team will give a short presentation about the various training programmes available. Following the presentation clients who wish to pursue their registration will be asked to complete a basic numeracy and literacy skills test. The test results will then help to determine the most suitable course for the client.

Stage 2

Following the information session, clients who have confirmed an interest in registering with us will be invited to attend an interview. The training needs analysis interview is a one-to-one session with a member of the Learning Hub team.

The objective of a training needs analysis is to find out more about the client. During the interview we complete the client’s registration and offer advice and guidance on the options available to them.

The interview process will also ask clients are to provide/confirm:

  • Name, date of birth, address and contact details
  • Two proofs of identity (e.g. passport, birth certificate or drivers licence with photo etc.)
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the UK if you are not a UK citizen
  • Information regarding any previous criminal convictions
  • Information regarding current health status and or possible health issues that could effect your future employment
  • Plus information regarding past employment and education history

Any information provided is treated in the strictest confidence and used only for internal procedures relating to training provisions provided by the Learning Hub. In certain circumstances the Occupational Health team and/or Human Resources may be consulted for additional advice and guidance regarding health and rehabilitation of offender’s issues.

Stage 3

Depending on the outcome of the training needs analysis interview clients may be given an invitation to attend a further interview for one of our courses or be directed to join one of the other activities available at the Learning Hub.
