Charity partners: the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham Charity

Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham Charity trustees have agreed a grant of £1.7 million for the new hospital. The grant was the largest ever agreed by the trustees, who launched the QE 'Plus' Appeal to raise £500,000 of that money through a public appeal.

The QE ‘Plus’ Appeal is helping to purchase cutting edge equipment and environmental enhancements for the new hospital, such as a wireless digital radiography system and a play area for children in A&E.

The remaining funding come from the reserves of the charity and was used to purchase a number of projects identified by the new hospital project team, such as the 3D wayfinding technology and kitting out the staff and patient lounge areas.

All the items provided by the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham Charity are "over and above" the core facilities provided by the NHS and are for the benefit of patients and staff.

Mike Hammond, Chief Executive of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham Charity, explained: “QEHB Charity played a core role in the development of the new hospital and worked closely with the new hospital team. We have been excited to offer additional funding for the QEHB, which provides the very best possible care in a world-class environment. We look forward to continuing our support of the new hospital. Of course, none of this would be possible without the support of our donors, and I would like to thank everyone who supports the hospital charity.”

Morag Jackson, New Hospitals Project Director, added: “It’s fantastic how Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham Charity has supported the project by committing such a large grant. We want to make QEHB the best possible environment for both patients and staff, and support from the charity helps us to achieve this goal.”
