Best in Care Awards 2012

Nominations are now being invited for the Trust’s 4th Annual Best in Care Awards.
The Best in Care Awards recognise individuals or teams who go the extra mile to deliver excellence in patient care or service delivery.
Awards are given in a number of categories and nominations can be made for anyone within the Trust, whether clinical or non-clinical staff, members, volunteers or charity supporters.
Shortlisted finalists, and the people that nominated them, will be invited to an awards ceremony on Wednesday 31 October 2012 at the Tally Ho Conference & Banqueting Centre, Birmingham.
The awards categories are listed below, including three new awards for 2012; Team of the Year Award, Brighter Futures Award and Behind the Scenes Award.
Best in Care Clinical Award
An award to recognise the outstanding contribution of a team or individual directly involved with patient care.
Best in Care Non-Clinical Award
To recognise the contribution of a team or individual who is not directly involved with patient care, but provides essential support to the running of the services.
Chief Executive’s Innovation in Practice Award
To recognise advancement of technology or treatments to help patients or improve service delivery
Governors’ Award for Best in Care
The nominees for this award are the winners of the Trust's Governors' Customer Care Awards which are held on a quarterly basis throughout the year.
Behind the Scenes Award (new for 2012)
From porters to PAs, cleaners to catering, HR to finance, the Trust employs an army of support staff working behind the scenes to ensure the smooth-running of the organisation. This award is to recognise an unsung hero amongst the support staff who consistently performs above and beyond the call of duty in carrying out their day-to-day tasks.
Team of the Year Award (new for 2012)
Awarded to a team, clinical or non-clinical, who deliver exceptional results to either patient care or service delivery by working together to achieve a common goal.
Volunteer of the Year Award
An award to recognise volunteers who have made outstanding contributions to patient experience.
Member of the Year Award
An award to recognise members who have made outstanding contributions to the Trust.
Infection Prevention and Control Award
An award for infection control, which demonstrates attention to, improvement of and excellence in ensuring essential aspects of infection control are right every day for every patient.
Dignity in Care Award
Nominations can be for an individual or team who have displayed commitment and innovation in ensuring that patients receive dignified care.
The Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham (QEHB) Charity's Charity Supporter of the Year Award
This award aims to recognise those generous people who dedicate their time and effort to help the QEHB Charity to achieve its goal of "achieving excellence in care by assisting with advances in research, patient care and the latest innovative equipment."
Patricia Taylor Award for Excellence in Service
To recognise the contribution of a healthcare assistant (HCA)/auxiliary nurse who demonstrates dedication to and excellence in all aspects of care and who has made an outstanding contribution to the Trust by supporting the clinical services.
Brighter Futures Award (new for 2012)
An award to recognise individuals who demonstrate a commitment to the community through: environmentally friendly initiatives, education and training schemes, creating employment opportunities or community partnership.
Chairman’s Award for Employee of the Year
A special award to be made to an employee or a team who, in the opinion of the Chairman, has made an outstanding contribution over the past twelve months.
Nominations for the Best in Care Awards close on Friday 3 August 2012.
