Marathon weekend for Karl Hinett

Story posted/last updated: 14 January 2011

Karl completes a marathon and a half in a weekend

Karl Hinett, who is running 52 marathons to raise funds for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham Charity, warmed up for his second by running the Walt Disney World Half Marathon on Saturday 8 January.

Not content with taking part in the full Walt Disney World Marathon, Karl completed the half marathon in 1 hour and 56mins, then ran the marathon in 4 hours and 32 minutes the following day.

His time was 3 minutes faster than that he ran in the Switzerland Marathon. If Karl can keep improving by 3 minutes each week, he’ll break the world record in his final marathon of the year, in his home town of Tipton.

Karl is off to Phoenix, Arizona for this week’s marathon.
