How to get referred to podiatry

Patients who attend the hospital may be referred by their consultant for further assessment if it is appropriate. If this is not the case, the referral has to come from a general practitioner (GP). In many cases, it is often more appropriate for the GP to refer certain conditions to their local community podiatrist, as it is more convenient.

Patients who have diabetes and attend the diabetic clinic at Selly Oak Hospital or who are under the care of the renal service at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital have direct access to the department and do not need to see a doctor to get an appointment. They can receive an appointment by contacting the department directly by phone or letter.
