Staff benefits

When working at UHB you are entitled to the following staff benefits:

  • A minimum of 202.5 hours' annual leave increasing with length of service. A minimum of 25 days for medics
  • Final salary pension scheme

  • Leisure and social facilities
  • The Morris Centre Leisure and Social Club is located on the Queen Elizabeth site. Membership is available to all members of staff by application to the Centre. For details of fees call 0121 472 3237. Facilities include:
    • swimming
    • aerobics
    • multi-gym
    • solarium/sun terrace
    • squash court
    • club bar
    • private function room
  • The Trust has shower and secure cycle facilities on both sites
  • Staff can also apply for discounted membership at to a number of Gyms and Health Clubs
  • Occupational Health Department offering a wide range of services, including:
    • health screening for new employees
    • health education
    • access to a staff support officer/counsellor
    • information regarding health and safety
  • Staff support service and pastoral care:
    • A confidential counselling service is available to all members of staff. 24-hour answer machine service is available
    • Supervision offered to staff using counselling skills
    • Stress management training
  • Chapels open 24 hours a day for quiet meditation on both hospital sites. The Chaplaincy Department is multi-denominational
  • Training and development opportunities including a two day corporate induction programme for all new employees
  • A wide range of dicounts available for retail and leisure opportunities via the staff benefits intranet site, see some examples below:
    • The Centro/Travel West Midlands Travel Scheme offering significant discount on commuting costs
    • Free shuttle bus service between Queen Elizabeth Selly Oak and hospitals
