Sutton Medical Consulting Centre Ltd

Sutton Medical Consulting Centre Ltd (SMCC) works with University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB) to provide appointments for new and follow-up patients through the "Choose and Book" system.

SMCC is owned and managed by doctors from the two long-established general practitioner partnerships who practice from the Ashfurlong Medical Centre. Their aim is to provide independent, high quality medical services for consultants, other medical practitioners and their patients.

The Community Development Team works closely with all of the team at Sutton Medical to ensure an excellent service is provided to all UHB patients. Clinics currently available at Sutton Medical Consulting Centre are as follows:

Ear Nose and Throat (ENT)

The clinic is led by Mr Chris Jennings, who deals with patients who have ENT problems. However, he has a special interest in diseases of the nose, and head and neck cancer. The ENT clinic includes speech therapy, and will soon include a clinic for tinnitus and some balance disorders. Clinics are held every Monday, procedures performed include:

• Grommits
• Nasendoscopes
• Ear suction

Ophthalmology

The clinic is led by Shabbir Mohamed, who treats the majority of ophthalmic problems. Mr Mohamed said: "in addition to the service provided, we have the back up of the facilities of UHB's eye clinic, enabling us to arrange the most appropriate follow-up for patients with more complex conditions". His main sub-specialist interests include medical, laser and surgical management of patients with glaucoma. Clinics are held every Monday.

Plastics

This service is led by Sunil Thomas and Garth Titley. The service is for a variety of general plastic surgery patients and day case surgery in the very near future. Clinics are held on Monday and Tuesday. Minor operations are performed under local anaesthetic. Dressing clinics are also held at the centre.
