Education Centre

Our purpose built Education Centre, located on Level 1 of Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham (QEHB), provides some of the most modern facilities in which to provide ongoing training to all our staff groups. The centre hosts much of the education and training that take place for both University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust’s (UHB) staff as well as our undergraduate and postgraduate students and trainees.

All our lecture theatres and seminar rooms are fully equipped to provide the best education with links to our Trust patient systems.

All UHB staff, students, and trainees on placement in our Trust are welcomed to join the QEHB Library. With this comes automatic membership of other NHS trust libraries across the Birmingham and Black Country area (BASE Libraries). The well-stocked library has 24-hour access, allowing users to make full use of a large range of electronic resources encompassing evidence-based resources to support clinical practice, research, professional development and studies.

The library’s services include:

  • book and DVD loans
  • 24-hour self-service kiosk for issue and renewal of resources
  • computer access
  • journal access (print and electronic)
  • inter-library loans
  • BaseDoc (journal article request service)
  • literature searching
  • training in information skills and electronic resources
