Membership is divided into different constituencies as follows.

Public constituency

The public constituency is divided into two classes:

  1. Birmingham area
Consisting of anyone living within the Birmingham electoral wards including patients and carers who are eligible for membership as a public member and not as a patient member
  2. Rest of England
Consisting of anyone living within the area of England, not resident within the Birmingham area, and not a patient or carer

Patient constituency

Patient members are individuals who are:

  1. patients or carers who are aged 16 or over
  2. not eligible to become members of the staff constituency and are not members of any other constituency

NB: A patient who lives in a public constituency area of the Trust will normally be registered as a member of the public constituency but this does not affect his/her ability to be a patient member by making an application for that membership.

Staff constituency

The staff constituency is divided into four classes:

  1. Medical staff
  2. Nursing Staff
  3. Clinical professions allied to healthcare staff
  4. Corporate and support services staff
