The UHB Chaplaincy Team has been presented with an award for excellence by the Birmingham Council of Faiths (BCF).
The award was in recognition of outstanding chaplaincy teamwork, initiatives to promote harmonious interfaith relations and providing multi-faith pastoral and spiritual care.
Members of the Chaplaincy Team were presented with their award at the Ramgharia Sikh Temple by the Deputy Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Cllr Chaman Lal.
Dr Peter Rookes, Chair of the BCF and former Director of Nursing at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, nominated the Chaplaincy Team for this award.
Dr Rookes celebrated ‘how far Chaplaincy has come’ in developing a diverse and inclusive approach to multi-faith, person-centred care.
Dr Darren Ralph, Director of Inclusion at UHB, said: “I am extremely proud of the team for all of the wonderful work they do day-in, day-out.
“I am so pleased that their hard work to provide such caring and accessible services for patients, staff and visitors across the Trust has been recognised with this award.
“I look forward to seeing the team go from strength to strength as we work to refine and grow our service offer.”
During Interfaith Week, chaplaincy is hosting an inter faith panel to discuss inclusion, unity and harmonious working. This session is open to all on Thursday 14 November, 09:30-11:00, at Heartlands Hospital, Lecture Theatre, Education Centre.
