How much time will it take up?

Meetings are approximately every month, but not at exam time, in the summer holidays or just before Christmas. There are seven to eight meetings per year - we would expect you to attend at least half of them. Meetings are 18:00 to 20:00, so they are after school, work or college. We have a meal first (provided by us) and then the meeting. We hope that you will also take part in Saturday Socials, which provide an opportunity for YPC members to chat to young patients on the wards. These are from 10:00 to 12:00 on seven Saturdays spread throughout the year.

Will I be reimbursed for travel?

Yes. We advise you to keep all tickets/receipts to claim travel costs. If you travel by car then please record the mileage; we will only reimburse you for a return journey from your home address.

Will I be expected to do any work outside the meetings?

The YPC may organise a project or activity to take part in and you would be asked to carry this out in your spare time. Membership of the YPC is not intended to interfere with study or work; however we are looking for committed individuals.

Will senior hospital staff attend meetings?

Yes, senior staff from the hospital will be present so that ideas can be discussed and implemented where necessary.
