Cancer services

University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest regional centres for non-surgical cancer treatment. It has established links with surrounding cancer units and we accept referrals from the whole of the British Isles and from overseas.

The Cancer Centre has 19 consultant oncologists offering a high degree of sub-specialisation by tumour site.

Consultant medical oncologists are specialists in delivering treatment for cancer or the side effects of cancer by prescribing medicines. Consultant clinical oncologists also prescribe radiotherapy. The consultants work within a professional and established team to provide the best possible care to patients, their families and carers.

Our Cancer Centre also has a special cancer information centre, the Patrick Room, which provides details of symptoms and treatments of specific cancer. This service is available to patients, family, carers and healthcare professionals.

National Cancer Patient Experience Survey 2018

Patients treated here will soon be asked to take part in NHS England's National Cancer Patient Experience Survey. The survey is part of the NHS Cancer Programme. It helps services monitor what's working well and what needs to be improved for future cancer patients.

All patients who have cancer related care or treatment as an inpatient or day case in April, May or June 2018 will be contacted to take part in the survey. Taking part is voluntary.

The survey will be carried out by an independent organisation who has been approved by NHS England. They will use your personal details to contact you. They will only use your details to carry out the survey. These details will be provided by UHB.

Your personal information will be handled securely and confidentially. We will not publish any information which might identify you.

If you do not wish to take part, or if you have any questions about the survey, please contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service:
