PPE donation guide

Step 1: PPE donation offered/received
PPE can be donated or offered to the Trust via the following methods:
- Phone call offering a donation – all calls should be directed to Procurement
- Donation fom a charity
- Donation sent directly to a ward, department or UHB site
- Donation from an external organistation
Step 2: Inform PPE group of donation
A photograph accompanied by a brief description and use of the PPE donation should be passed onto the COVID-19 PPE group.

It is the responsibility of ward managers, senior sisters, senior charge nurses, charities, Communications or PALS staff to pass on details of the donation.
Step 3: PPE donation assessed
The PPE donation product requirements will be assessed by the PPE Group or Procurement for use at UHB or the wider community.
When the physical product has been received, please quarantine it in the ward, department or warehouses on each site. The donated PPE must not be used until approved.
Please contact the relevant warehouse manager between 08:00 – 16:00 from Monday to Friday for storage of the PPE donation (if required) whilst awaiting approval from the PPE Group and Procurement. If the delivery arrives out of hours, please keep it locked in safe storage until the next working day.

Step 4: PPE donation approved or declined
Approved
The PPE donation will be distributed by Procurement with clear guidelines of the appropriate use of the product (i.e single use, sessional use or reusable).
Declined
The donating source will be contacted by Procurement, charity, Communications or PALS staff in regard to being unable to use product but thanked for their kind donation.
