Rapid testing hub

Last updated: 28 October 2021 at 11:09

The Trust’s first Near Patient Rapid Testing Hubs are now live in the following locations:

  • Heartlands Hospital -  Majors B
  • QEHB - AMU
  • Good Hope Hospital - First Floor (area previously Children’s OPD)

The service will provide rapid testing for possible Covid-19 positive patients in ED and assessment areas.

The Standard Operating Procedure and request forms can be found in the "Downloads" section below.

Please note that request forms should not be inserted into the bag with the sample. It should be inserted into a separate pocket or attached to the outside of the bag with the sticky strip (dependant on bag used).

Samples should be transported to the labs and left in the sample reception box/tray. Samples will not be triaged and will be processed in receipt time order.

No additional electronic ordering is required either via ICE or PIC order comm.

In the longer-term, the hubs can also be used to test for flu and the Trust will be liaising with PHE over the coming weeks.
