COVID-19 information

COVID-19 has led to many changes in dermatology research. We are working towards resuming our normal service as soon as we can.

Skin disease is the second most common disease for UK adults with millions of people affected by skin conditions. Although there are numerous treatments available, there is still no cure.

Our dermatology research covers many areas, including studies to understand the cause of skin conditions and clinical trials to test new skin treatments.

Many of our dermatology patients are keen to take part in research, particularly when other treatments have not worked.

Common conditions and trial topics

We treat the following conditions and deliver research for patients with skin lymphoma:

  • Psoriasis
  • Eczema
  • Hidradenitis suppurativa
  • Vitiligo
  • Acne
  • Toxic epidermal necrolysis

The majority of our clinical trials focus on new targeted treatments that help treat skin diseases and skin lymphoma conditions. These targeted treatments focus on specific cells and the reasons they cause inflammation.

We also do observational studies which do not involve new drugs but look at the effects symptoms have on patients' quality of life.
