A UHB hospital chaplain has been presented with his MBE by the Princess Royal.
Imam Mohammad Asad was proud to attend a ceremony at Windsor Castle on 8 March where he received his honour.
He said: “It was a privilege to meet Princess Anne and to reflect over the courageous and brave stance our NHS staff took during the unprecedented times of COVID-19.”
The MBE, which was announced last summer as part of the late Queen’s birthday honours, is for services to charitable fundraising and to the NHS during the pandemic.
Mohammad, who is also the Imam and lecturer at Birmingham Central Mosque, organised huge collections of food and other essentials from the Muslim community as well as being involved in many other projects throughout the pandemic, offering practical help and support.
