Training
Before you are discharged from hospital you will undergo training on how to operate your Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD) and the accompanying equipment.
You will be required to complete daily safety checks to ensure the pump is operating in a safe manner.
During training, you will learn how to read and interpret data on the system controller and what to do in the event of an alarm.
Back-up equipment
On all outings from your home it is essential to carry a spare controller and batteries in case you run out of power and do not have access to your MPU. Or, you need to change your controller in an emergency.
