Your feedback on our maternity services

There are a number of ways to send feedback about your experience. This could include saying thank you or sending a compliment, making a suggestion, reporting a problem or making a complaint.

Positive feedback

Staff are always happy to receive compliments or messages of thanks when things have gone well. If you or someone you know has received great service, please let the relevant team know.

If you would like your positive feedback to be more widely recognised, you can contact the Patient Experience team. Getting in touch this way means we can log your feedback. This is useful as it helps the Trust to learn from what's gone well, and Patient Experience will always try to pass on your messages to the team involved.

Making a suggestion

If you've had an idea for something which might improve how we provide our service, staff in the area in which you, your relative or friend have been treated would be happy to hear your suggestions. You may want to give your suggestion to the person in charge of the ward or department concerned.

Alternatively, you can send any suggestions to our Patient Experience team, who would be happy to receive your ideas and liaise with staff in the area concerned.

Reporting a problem

Being a patient, or a relative, friend or carer of a patient in hospital can be difficult and stressful. Staff are here to do their best to make your experience as worry-free as possible. Sometimes things don’t turn out the way you expect and you might need some extra help or support. In these situations it's usually best to ask to speak to the person in charge of the ward or department. They are often best placed to offer a quick and effective solution.

Making a complaint

Staff in the ward or department are often best placed to help with any issues. We always suggest speaking to the person in charge first, if you can. If this isn't possible, our Patient Relations team may be able to help with any concerns without you needing to submit a complaint.

If you still haven't found a solution to any problems, you may want to make a complaint.

How to send feedback

As mentioned above, the team who looked after you or your loved one are always happy to receive your feedback. You can also submit feedback on specific aspects of your care via the following online surveys:

For other ways to submit feedback to University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB), please see the pages on giving feedback, to ensure your message reaches the right team.
