Travelling by train

Travelling to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham and the old QE by train

The nearest station to the hospital is University station, which is less than 10 minutes' walk from the hospital. The hospital is clearly signposted from the station.

A minibus service is also available, which carries patients, visitors and staff from University station to the Birmingham Women's Hospital, both the old and new Queen Elizabeth Hospital buildings and the Mental Health Trust. The bus runs approximately every 20 minutes between 07:00 and 19:00, Monday – Friday.

University station is on the Cross City line. There are trains approximately every 10 minutes from New Street station in Birmingham city centre (final destination: Longbridge or Redditch).

Travelling to Selly Oak Hospital by train

There are no services for patients remaining at Selly Oak Hospital, but for people who need to attend the hospital for other reasons, the nearest station is Selly Oak, which is 10 – 15 minutes' walk from the hospital.

  • Exit the station and walk through the car park to the traffic lights
  • Turn left at the lights
  • Walk along the Bristol Road, passing Lookers car dealership on your left, then Sainsbury's supermarket on your right
  • Turn left at the traffic lights, onto Oak Tree Lane
  • Walk past Lloyds TSB on your right
  • At the next set of traffic lights, turn left onto Raddlebarn Road
  • The Selly Oak Hospital site is on your left
