Questions

1. Does your organisation provide substance misuse services?
2. Does your organisation have a policy on prescribing Take-home Naloxone for patients prescribed or taking opiates or opiate substitutes?

Response

1. Yes, indirectly we can refer in-patients to Change, Grow, Live (CGL).  CGL are commissioned to provide substance misuse services in Birmingham.

2. No, there is no formal policy at UHB for take home naloxone. 

   Take home naloxone is usually provided in the community by CGL. 

   Patients with opioid dependence admitted to UHB are usually referred to CGL and CGL do not advise us to prescribe take home naloxone.
