Get your flu jab

Ask a ward manager

Flu vaccinations will be available from the ward manager or sister on most wards and departments. Ward managers are encouraged to find dedicated timeslots and find an opportunity over the course of 10 weeks, to speak with every member of the ward team, including medical colleagues, AHPs and non-clinical members of the team, about the flu vaccination.

There will also be a range of pop-up clinics and roving vaccinators who will visit wards and departments in hours and during night shifts to ensure everyone has an opportunity to protect themselves, prevent the spread of flu, and thrive this winter.

Ward managers, sisters, charge nurses, many clinical educators, occupational health nurses and other nursing leads are being trained to provide the flu jab in all wards and departments. Vaccination teams may also be supported by the pharmacy team.

All UHB staff are eligible for the flu vaccination, whether you are clinical or non-clinical, nursing, AHP, scientist, facilities, catering, student or admin and clerical – if you work, learn or volunteer at UHB, you can get protected.

Top tip: it is helpful to have your payroll number/employee number available when you have your flu jab. Also wear loose fitting clothing so the peer vaccinator can easily get to your upper arm.
