Students in training

Image of staff member in training on a ward

We are proud to be a teaching Trust with doctors, nurses, midwives and other health professionals from all around the world receiving part of their training with us.

You may often see students on the wards and under supervision, they may help with aspects of your care. They should always be introduced to you and the reason for their presence be explained to you by a senior doctor or a member of the nursing team.

If you do not wish for a student to be present during your care, you have the right to refuse. This decision will be respected and will in no way jeopardise care or treatment now or at any time in the future.

As a patient, you play an important part in the teaching in our hospitals and community services. If you do agree to be seen by a student, decisions about your treatment and care will still be made by trained staff, not by the student.

If you are ever unsure of who a member of our teams are, please do not hesitate to ask.
