Admin Awards - make a nomination

We are delighted to open nominations for this year’s Admin Awards. 

The awards will help recognise individuals and teams who work in administration, who go above and beyond and who really embody the Trust’s values of Kind, Connected and Bold. 

Nominations are now open and will close on Friday 17 October 2025.  

Winners will be announced in an awards ceremony on Friday 14 November 2025.

The Newcomer of the Year Award

The Newcomer of the Year Award

The Newcomer of the Year Award celebrates an administrative professional new to admin at UHB.  

  • This person’s administrative career started less than two years ago
  • The nominee has already made a significant impact on UHB
  • They seek continuous improvement and demonstrate great potential to continue to excel and advance in their role

Things to consider for your nomination:

  • What kind of contribution has this person made to UHB?
  • What makes them stand out?
  • What skills have they demonstrated?
  • What obstacles they may have had to overcome?
  • How they have demonstrated the Trust values of kind, connected and bold?

The Inspirational Award

The Inspirational Award

This award recognises the administrative professional that best demonstrates qualities such as confidence, integrity, innovation, patience, decisiveness, open-mindedness, empowerment, generosity, persistence, and a passion for helping fellow employees to succeed. 

Things to consider for your nomination:

  • Which of the leadership qualities above has this administrative professional demonstrated in their role?
  • How has the nominee demonstrated these qualities in their role?

The Bold Award

The Bold Award

The Bold Award recognises an administrative professional that has embraced change, who goes beyond usual limits and is not afraid to challenge the status quo to make things better, either for the service they support or for their colleagues. 

Things to consider for your nomination:

  • How does this person demonstrate our value of being bold?
  • How has the nominee shown they're not afraid of difficult situations?
  • How have they improved things by embracing change?

The Spirit Award

The Spirit Award

The Spirit Award celebrates the administrative professional who consistently exhibits a positive, optimistic outlook that people find contagious and uplifting. They approach their work with high energy, enthusiasm and demonstrate an eagerness to help others, always with a can-do attitude. This is the person who lifts up the office, who people are drawn to during good days and bad, and the person that contributes to a culture of optimism and positivity within the organisation. 

Things to consider for your nomination:

  • How does this person create a positive work environment for others
  • How does their positivity impact their co-workers, patients, visitors, and/or the Trust

The Outstanding Contribution Award

The Outstanding Contribution Award

The Outstanding Contribution Award is presented to an administrative professional that has made an outstanding contribution to the NHS during their career to date.  

Open to individuals who have a minimum of 10 years’ service as an administrative professional. 

Things to consider for your nomination:

  • How long has this person worked in the NHS?
  • Have they gone over and above the requirements of their role, playing a full part in Trust life?
  • Does the member of staff act as a role model or mentor for other staff?

The Going Above and Beyond Award

The Going above and Beyond Award

The Going above and Beyond Award honours an administrative professional who goes "the extra mile", exceeding the expectations of their role.  

Things to consider for your nomination:

  • How has this person gone above and beyond in providing exceptional customer service to others?
  • What impact has the nominee had on UHB?

Administrative Team of the Year Award

The Administrative Team of the Year Award

The prestigious Administrative Team of the Year Award recognises a team which goes above and beyond to provide a first-class service for the benefit of patients, staff, visitors or our partners. 

Things to consider for your nomination:

  • How many people are in this team?
  • How has this team worked together to achieve a positive relationship which embodies UHB’s values of kind, connected, and bold?
  • How do the skills, talents, and attributes of this team combine to create a more impactful partnership internally and with others?

Administrative Leader of the Year Award

Administrative Leader of the Year Award

This category recognises a leader of an admin team or function, who truly deserves some recognition for their excellent leadership.

Things to consider for your nomination:

  • How this individual leader embodies our values of Kind, Connected and Bold in their leadership style 
  • Has shown their commitment to leadership by completing the "How we behave matters" training and/or has completed UHB’s "Welcome to Leadership" course. 
  • What impact have they had on their team
People's Choice Award

The People’s Choice Award

The People’s Choice Award is an award that has been created for any staff member at UHB to nominate an Administrative Professional or Administrative Team that has been recognised simply as being the best at what they do. 

This winner of this award will be decided by staff vote. The winner will be announced live during the official awards ceremony. 

Things to consider for your nomination:

  • How is this team or individual the best at what they do?
  • What makes them unique?
