Educational background: qualified from University College Dublin and completed D. Phil at University of Oxford. Hon. Professor College of Medicine and Health, University of Birmingham.
Areas of Expertise: specific areas of interest or specialisation within gastroenterology, IBD, or nutrition.
Research and publications: active in IBD research both academic and pharmaceutical led IBD studies. Chief investigator on the OCEaN Study looking at the role of exclusive enteral nutrition in improving outcomes in surgery for Crohn’s disease. Former elected member of the BSG IBD committee member and co-author of the 2025 BSG IBD guidelines.
Personal approach: providing personalised care to patients alongside opportunities for patients to get involved in research to improve future care.
