Anne DevrellSolihull and Meriden

Anne is currently a Research Champion volunteering within the West Midlands Clinical Research Network based in Stafford and a member of the Clinical Research Ambassador Group based at Heartlands Hospital. For the past six years, she has been fortunate to work alongside clinical and research professionals and the public in a wide range of studies and trials.

Anne is also a volunteer in research at Southampton, Warwick and Birmingham universities.

As the current Chair of the WM Research Champions Forum, she leads an active and committed group of representatives from trusts, WM Ambulance Service, primary care networks and other partner organisations. Their purpose is to coordinate open and active partnerships to promote research that meets the needs of each community within the region and enhance the inclusion of the patient and public voice in clinical research.

As secretary of her own GP surgery's PPG, Anne has helped to support the practice's development into a primary care network working alongside GPs and patients during a very challenging period in its growth.

Finally, as an active participant in ongoing dementia studies as a currently, healthy volunteer, and a Dementia Friends’ Champion, Anne is using her experience as a family carer to influence and inform professionals who are trying to better understand this disease.

She believes she demonstrates a real commitment to health and care within her community and sees the role as governor within the Trust as another opportunity to do her duty for patients and the public.
