Helen WoodallNursing and Midwifery
Helen is a Registered Dental Nurse with a range of specialist qualifications. Helen has worked at University Hospitals Birmingham NHSFT for 21 years as a maxillofacial dental nurse working in outpatient clinics, also working on the ward supporting oncology patients with their oral health after reconstructive surgery.
Her current role is as a member of the Infection Prevention Control Team; she works on the wards teaching and promoting good mouth care for all inpatients on all hospital sites. Good mouth care provides patient comfort but also significantly reduces the risk of Hospital Acquired Pneumonia.
Helen is passionate about hospital care, especially patient’s experience and supporting colleagues striving to provide high quality care in a kind and caring hospital environment. Helen is the new Staff Governor for Nursing and Midwifery; she aims to be an effective link between the Trust board and nursing colleagues and help shape the Trust’s strategic direction.
