Councillor Sardul Singh Marwa MBE, JPSolihull Metropolitan Borough Council

Sardul currently serves as a Councillor for Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council, where he holds the position of Chair of the Licensing Committee. He also plays an active role in key areas including economic development, planning and the children’s services and education scrutiny board. He is a former Birmingham City Councillor where he held similar roles. 

With a distinguished record in public service and healthcare governance, Sardul has made significant contributions to improving health outcomes and community wellbeing across the West Midlands. He previously served as a board member of both the Birmingham Area Health Authority and the North Birmingham Health Authority. 

His extensive public service includes roles as a magistrate and school governor, where he has been instrumental in shaping inclusive policies and advancing equity in health, education, housing, and law enforcement throughout the region. 

In recognition of his commitment to supporting young people in developing skills for employment, Sardul was awarded the Member of the Order of the British Empire in 1990.
