Venue | Lecture theatre 3, QEHB |
On Monday 31 March, UHB’s Neurodiversity Network will be hosting their first ever conference at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.
The event will offer a platform for experts, advocates, and UHB colleagues to come together and engage in meaningful discussions on how workplaces, healthcare systems, and society can more effectively support neurodivergent individuals.
Attendees will be provided with guidance on how to gain a deeper understanding of themselves and their colleagues, and support their teams with empathy and compassion.
The day will also open doors to the valuable resources available at UHB, including accessibility tools for neurodiverse staff and information on wider workplace adjustments.
Organisationally, this event will contribute to creating an inclusive culture where everyone feels that they belong and can thrive together, taking a step closer to achieving our inclusion objectives as part of our People ambition.
The conference will take place from 08:40 - 16:30, in Lecture Theatre 3 at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, and will highlight key themes such as:
- UHB’s new Neurodiversity Toolkit
- Free resources from the Business Disability Forum
- Strategies for thriving at work with Tourette’s
- An inspiring success story of overcoming challenges with dyslexia
- Improving accessibility in workplaces and healthcare settings
- Promoting acceptance, support, and empowerment for neurodiversity across all spaces
Guest speakers include Ione Georgakis (Occupational Therapist and Therapies and Advocacy Manager for Tourette Action), Elizabeth Taky (neurobox Ambassador), Harray Mobberley (Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist - Spine & Spinal Surgery), Becky Elliott (Business Disability Forum Business Partner), and Medigold Health.
Throughout the day, there will be interactive workshops, exhibition stands, and quiet zones for neurodiverse staff to take a break and recharge.
