Following several safety, risk and estates concerns that the Trust has been made aware of, it is with regret and deep disappointment that the swimming pool at the Morris Centre Club at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham (QEHB) will not reopen in the New Year.

This closure will be upsetting to the many members and community groups who have enjoyed their swimming and diving with us for many years, and we are sorry to and grateful for all members who have been using the swimming pool and who have become part of the community and family at the centre.

This was not an easy decision for the Trust to take but it was made in the interests of safety first and foremost.

We are working closely with the Centre Committee to explore all potential options and opportunities, in the hopes that we may be able to reopen the swimming pool in the future. However, this cannot be guaranteed, and our priority must be the health and safety of members.

The gym and other facilities will remain open and available for members looking to enhance their health and wellbeing until at least the end of March 2026.

If you would like to talk about your membership, costs and options, please speak to a member of the team within the Morris Centre Club, however:

If you hold a swim-only membership, this will automatically end on 31 December 2025. If you pay by standing order, please arrange cancellation with your bank, as Centre colleagues are unable to do this on your behalf.
If you have a full membership, it will be adjusted to a gym-only membership from January.
Should you wish to cancel your membership entirely, please let the Morris Centre staff know with at least seven working days’ notice, to allow time for direct debit processing.

Thank you for your understanding and support.
