Children from Smith's Wood Primary Academy are helping to brighten a community medical centre after their artwork went on display for patients, visitors and staff.

The project, led by colleagues at Smith's Wood Medical Centre, has brought together University Hospitals Birmingham (UHB) Community Services and the local school to showcase children's creativity while creating a welcoming environment for everyone using the clinic.

Caroline Harrison, Clinics Manager (community properties), said: "This has been a fantastic opportunity to work with Smith's Wood Primary Academy and bring the school community and UHB together. We intend to work with the school to update the displays with different themes going forward so all children at the school can be part of this."

The artwork has already proved a source of pride for the pupils involved.

Jade Cruise, Art Lead at Smith's Wood Primary Academy, said: "For the children, having their artwork displayed in Smith's Wood Clinic has been a wonderful opportunity to celebrate their creativity and talents beyond the classroom.

"They have been incredibly proud to see their work displayed in a real community setting and to know that it is being enjoyed by patients, families and staff."

The children recently visited Smith's Wood Medical Centre to see their artwork on display, meet members of the community team and celebrate the difference their creativity is making for patients, visitors and staff.

The school and centre hope to continue working together on future displays, giving more children the opportunity to showcase their work and strengthen links between local families and community services.
