Nutrition plays a central role in recovery from burn injury. As the experts in nutrition, we use evidenced-based practice to deliver the best nutritional care to support the patients’ treatment.

What to expect
We work with patients throughout their acute admission on the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and in the Burns Centre.
Our role includes:
- nutritional assessment including advice on nutritional requirements
- anthropometric assessment
- advice on enteral (tube) feeding routes and prescriptions
- advice regarding oral nutritional support
- advice regarding dietary manipulation
- advice on trace elements replacement and micronutrient supplementation
Who we work with
We work as part of the specialist MDT based in the Burns Centre including, consultants, resident doctors, nursing staff and therapists. We attend ward rounds and MDT meetings where we discuss your care to ensure we are doing everything we can to meet your nutritional needs.
How to be referred
The consultants, doctors and nursing staff will refer you to us if you need nutritional assessment and intervention.
