We are a team of senior specialist dietitians with expertise in critical care and EPOC. Patients admitted to critical care and EPOC can have complex treatment needs. Nutrition is central to helping patients achieve the best possible outcome. As experts in nutrition, we support patients’ nutritional needs throughout their critical care journey.
Conditions we manage
We treat patients with all conditions across the critical care units including:
- major trauma
- neurosurgery and neurological conditions
- gastrointestinal surgery
- liver disease and liver transplant
- cardiology, cardiac surgery and heart transplant
- respiratory
What to expect
The team is responsible for:
- nutritional assessment including advice on nutritional requirements
- anthropometric assessment
- advice on enteral (tube) feeding routes and prescriptions
- advice regarding oral nutritional support
- advice regarding dietary manipulation
- advice on micronutrient supplementation
Who we work with
We work as part of the specialist multidisciplinary team including, consultants, resident doctors, nursing staff and therapists. Together we support patients’ nutritional care.
How to be referred
The consultants, doctors and nursing staff will refer you to us if you need nutritional assessment and intervention.
