Bowel problems are very common. Anal incontinence and constipation can have a major impact on the quality of an individuals life. We understand that it can be difficult to talk about these issues and will aim to make you feel at ease.
Constipation
Constipation is the infrequent passage of stool, considered to be less than once every three days, with difficulty evacuating such as straining or incomplete emptying and/or the passage of hard or lumpy stools.
Anal or bowel incontinence
Anal or bowel incontinence involves leakage of stool or wind from the back passage. This may happen with a sudden urge to rush to the toilet, faecal urgency, or it may happen with no warning.
Bowel evacuation disorders
This may include constipation or obstructed defecation.
