South Birmingham Community Diagnostic Centre

header-south-birmingham-cdc

Some outpatient diagnostic appointments now take place at the South Birmingham Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) instead of our main hospital sites. Services provided include:

  • Ultrasound scans
  • MRI
  • X-ray scans
  • Echocardiograms
  • CT
  • Endoscopy
  • Respiratory tests (Spirometry and FeNo)

What are the benefits?

Patients under the care of University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB) living in South Birmingham can now access earlier appointments closer to home.

For patients needing more than one type scan, the centre aims to carry these out in a single visit, reducing travel and waiting times for diagnoses.

The centre is equipped with the latest imaging equipment:

  • Digital radiography X-ray system
  • CT and MRI scanners
  • Ultrasound machines

Approximately 37,000 patients a year will be able to have Imaging appointments at the new centre, which helps to ensure that patients are seen in a quicker, more efficient way.

To ensure privacy and space, the centre has changing areas near the X-ray rooms to ensure the best possible patient experience.
