Compassionate care hub for bereaved families

A compassionate care hub has been launched this week to support families who have lost a loved one due to coronavirus.

The hub team, co-ordinated and supervised by the end of life and bereavement CNSs, is comprised of nurses and physiotherapists redeployed from different specialties across UHB.

Staff in the hub are calling bereaved families to check on their well-being, especially if they are in isolation, to answer any questions or concerns they may have and to take feedback to pass on to the wards and/or PALS if required.

The new service is not only offering additional help and support for grieving families; but is also providing reassurance to clinical teams who may be concerned about how their patients’ relatives are coping with their loss.
