Volunteers wanted for asymptomatic infection study

A research study to investigate potential differences in asymptomatic COVID-19 infection between staff working at a COVID-clear site (Solihull Hospital) and a site admitting COVID-19 patients (Good Hope Hospital) is currently recruiting staff.

The study also aims to identify any other factors that may affect asymptomatic infection.

The study aims to recruit 1000 members of staff, with 500 colleagues from each hospital taking part. Taking part will involve staff having a weekly swab test over a four week period.

Staff interested in taking part are invited to complete a registration form, which will be used to ensure the staff chosen to take part are representative. The form is available to complete on the intranet via the link below (please note this link will only work if you are using a Trust PC or are connected via VPN):

You can also find the form under "C" on the A-Z of the HGS intranet.

After you complete the form, the research team will be in touch.

If you have any questions about the study, a patient information sheet is also available on the intranet page. Should you have any further questions not covered by the patient information sheet, please email the R&D team.

Email: testingstaffR&D@heartofengland.nhs.uk

Staff taking part will have their first swab test on site. They will then be given self swab kits, to be completed at home on a weekly basis, for three weeks.
