Health and safety notice - disposal of masks (Type IIR from Cardinal Health)

Due to the national advice from the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), staff should be aware that the Cardinal Type IIR mask foam strip can flake and enter the wearer’s airway or mouth. Ties and/or stitching may also detach from the mask.

Any stock of this type of mask that was available has been removed by UHB Procurement, however if this type of mask is identified within the department or wards stock, staff should follow the guidance available in the "Downloads" section.
