Add a new folder

Step 1

Ensure you're viewing the asset tree by clicking the Assets tab.

Step 2

Scroll down to the services folder, and click the + icon to expand it.

Step 3

Right click the services folder, then hover over New and click Folder.

Step 4

Name the folder, using the convention service-name

If the folder is not already highlighted for renaming, right-click the folder and click Rename.

Hit the Return key to apply the change.

Important

Do not use spaces in folder names. Use lower case for each word, and separate words using hyphens.

Add a home page for the service

Step 1

Right-click your new folder, then hover over New and click Editorial Page.

Step 2

With the page highlighted for renaming, name the file index.htm.

Hit the Return key to apply the change.

Important

The file name index.htm must always be used here for a service home page.

Add the page to navigation

Step 1

Switch to the navigation tree by clicking the Navigation tab.

Step 2

Scroll to the bottom of the navigation tree to find your new page.

Information

Unless you edited the page properties when you created the new page, it will have the navigation title new-page.

Step 3

Click and drag the page to Services in the navigation tree.

This will expand the Services section.

Information

The new page will show at the bottom of the Services section. If the new page is not visible, right-click Service and click Refresh.

Step 4

Drag the page so it appears in alphabetical order within the services section.

Set page name

Step 1

Right-click the page, then click Rename.

Step 2

Enter the name of the service. This name will be the title that shows in navigation menus.

Hit the Return key to apply the change.

Advisory

While there may be exceptions, the name of a service would usually be treated as a proper noun, and would therefore have its initial letters capitalised.

Set page properties

Step 1

Right-click the page, then hover over Edit and click Page Properties.

Step 2

With the Standard tab selected, enter the name of the service in the Page title field. This would usually be the same as the navigation title you gave the page.

Step 3

In the Enter a summary of the content of the page field, add a short summary of the page.

Important

This summary should be no longer than 140 characters.

The summary you enter here may be used by search engines as a description of the page, so try and make it useful and friendly.

Information

Check guidance on tagging and summarising services pages for further information.

Step 4

Under Content Layout, ensure the page uses the correct content layout.

  • If the page has child pages (sub-pages), set this to uhb-cl-one-col-fixed-review-date.scl
  • If there are no child pages, set the content layout to uhb-cl-two-col-side-nav.scl

To find and select a content layout, click the name of the content layout currently in use browse to the content layout required using the folder structure. Content layouts are usually stored in layoutcontent-layouts.

If you know the name of the required content layout, you can also search by name using the Find item… field.

Information

There are other content layout types, but these are the currently the most commonly used and will cover most services.

  • Hide page as internal link

Information

You can uncheck these when you're ready to publish the page.

Step 6
