Claire Spencer, Birmingham South

Claire lives in Kings Heath and has been a Birmingham resident since 2003. Her professional roles have spanned the public, private, and community sectors, and focus on how social, economic, and environmental goals are translated into practice.

She currently works as the Associate Director for Public Sector and Politics at the Leadership Centre, a charity which supports public sector leaders at all levels to balance everyday challenges with their long-term goals.

Before this, Claire worked at the West Midlands Combined Authority for four years, leading its work on inclusive growth and was the lead author of the region’s climate change strategy, #WM2041.

She has also served as an elected member of Birmingham City Council, gaining experience across the executive, regulatory and scrutiny elements of local and regional leadership.

In her spare time, Claire also serves as a primary school governor in south Birmingham and as a trustee of Baby Aid Birmingham and Moseley Community Development Trust. She also sits on the advisory board for Aston University’s School of Social Sciences and Humanities.
