A planning application for a new building to house an Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) at Good Hope Hospital is now live on Birmingham City Council’s planning portal.

University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust is seeking planning permission for a new modular building, which will be an extension of the hospital’s current Emergency Department (ED).

You can view the planning application and leave your comments on the Birmingham City Council planning portal – please use the link below:

Decisions about urgent care services, including community-based UTCs, GP out-of-hours services and hospital-based UTCs, will be considered through a separate NHS consultation being led by NHS Birmingham and Solihull Integrated Care Board between 5 February 2026 and 16 April 2026. This will also include how urgent treatment services are provided at Good Hope Hospital.

People can share their views on the proposed service options as part of that separate consultation, and those views will help inform NHS decision-making.
