UHB nurse consultant wins prestigious Nursing Times Award

Congratulations to Sherwin Criseno, Nurse Consultant in Endocrinology at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, who has won the prestigious ‘Nurse Leader of the Year’ Nursing Times Award.

Sherwin, who is hugely passionate about endocrine nursing and has worked to develop endocrine nursing and raise the profile of the speciality and his team. He now leads the largest specialist endocrine nursing team in Europe for people with a wide range of hormone-related conditions.

Last year, the service was highlighted by the Department of Health and Social Care’s ‘Get It Right First Time’ (GIRFT) programme as the most advanced, best led and well-organised specialist endocrine nursing team in the UK.

In 2024, Sherwin became the first nurse to be appointed to the UK Society for Endocrinology's Board of Trustees, ensuring the nursing voice, expertise and patient perspective are embedded in the Society’s strategic decisions. He is also a Trustee of The Pituitary Foundation and the Royal Osteoporosis Society.

A huge well done to Sherwin on the well-deserved recognition!
