Sarah PountainSenior Research Manager
Sarah gained her PhD in 2006 from the University of Nottingham. Following this she undertook a post-doctoral position at Keele University, researching cancer gene regulation and working with the clinical team at University Hospitals of North Staffordshire.
She then moved into clinical trial management, with responsibility for managing a large multi-centre stroke trial. Sarah has also worked on NIHR grant applications and provided maternity cover for the Research and Development Manager. She has worked closely with the West Midlands Stroke Research Network and has extensive experience in grant development, the research regulatory approval process, research and development management and regulatory inspections.
In 2012, Sarah joined Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust as a research portfolio manager, leading on the academic research portfolio and associated grant development. Sarah is now Senior Research Manager at UHB, covering Good Hope, Heartlands and Solihull hospital sites.
