Urgent referral:
Monday to Friday, 08:00 - 16:30, call the podiatry department on extension 16419 or mobile:
In addition to contacting the vascular SpR for limb/life threatening problems (e.g. severe infection, gangrene, critical limb ischaemia) available via switchboard Monday to Sunday at all hours, please also refer the patient to podiatry.
For all other foot pathology (including diabetic ulcers), please refer to Podiatry via the following pathway
- For all referrals, please send a PICS request (Requests > Podiatry Referral QEHB)
- If the patient is suitable for discharge, please ensure the patients correct contact number is documented in the referral
Monday - Friday (before midday)
- Refer via PICS for same day review
Monday - Thursday (after midday)
- Refer Via PICS
- If the patient is admitted, the podiatry team will aim to see the patient the following day
- If the patient is not for admission or has been discharged, the podiatry team will contact the patient within 24 hours to arrange an urgent OP appointment (this appointment will most likely be made for the same or the following day unless deemed non urgent)
Friday (after 12:00), all hours Saturday and Sunday
- Refer via PICS
- If the patient is admitted, the patient will be reviewed on Monday
- If the patient is not for the podiatry team will triage the referral on Monday and contact the patient to arrange an appointment within 24 hours
