This page is intended for use by clinicians at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham as a guideline for referring patients to the Neurology team.
How to refer
If a patient needs input from the Renal team, please refer via the following methods:
Emergency
If you suspect a renal emergency, or need to speak directly with the Renal team, please contact
- Renal SPR on call via 17451 (Monday to Sunday, 24 hours a day)
Urgent referrals
Monday to Friday, 08:00-17:00
- Refer all patients via PICS (Requests > Renal referral QEHB)
- For urgent referrals, call the renal registrar on call via Switchboard in addition to a PICS referral
Out of hours / weekend / Bank Holiday
- Contact the renal registrar on call
Non-urgent referrals
Do not refer for outpatient appointments via PICS, please speak to renal registrar on call before discharge.
If patient is already known to renal, email the relevant consultant and secretary.
